Cut Bank Gas Company was formed in 1956 in Cut Bank, Montana. Cut Bank is a small community of approximately 3,100 people located east of the Rocky Mountain front only 45 miles from Glacier National Park. Its economy is based on agriculture and the natural gas and oil industry. Cut Bank is often recorded as the coldest spot in the nation.
Cut Bank Gas Company was purchased by Energy West in November of 2009. The company will benefit greatly from the purchase by Energy West, a secure, well established utility. Cut Bank Gas Company is a natural gas utility which produces and sells to its mostly residential customers. It serves about 1500 customers in the immediate Cut Bank area with its approximate 33 miles of mains. It also produces about 10% of the natural gas is sells.
